Biographical/Historical Note
Charles Baumer Swaney (1888-1952) was a professor of history at State Teachers College, now known as Radford University, from 1928 until 1951. In 1926 he published the book: Episcopal Methodism and Slavery, with Sidelights on Ecclesiastical Politics, and at some point during his years at Radford, he wrote The Development of Transportation and Communication in the United States. Dr. Swaney died January 5, 1952 and is buried in Sunrise Burial Park in Fairlawn, Virginia.
Scope and Contents
This collection consists of two copies of a manuscrips for The Development of Transportation and Communication in the United States, by Charles Baumer Swaney, and a letter from his publishing company asking about the manuscript. It is unclear if the item was ever published.
