This collection consists of notebooks Mr. Brown used to take notes and to write early versions of poems. In some cases the final versions of poems are also included as later add-ins. Also included is correspondence, awards, photographs, and teaching manuals written by Brown (Student Centered Learning).

Biographical/Historical Note

Bill Brown, of the state of Tennessee is a well known poet and teacher (directed the writing program at the Hume-Fogg School in Nashville, TN for 19 years). In 1995 he was named Distinguished Teacher in the Arts by the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts, wasrecognized by the State of Tennessee in The Presidential Scholars Program, was awarded Writer of the Year by the Tennessee Writers Alliance, wrote and produced a television series about teaching (Student Centered Learning), published several poetry books including Morning Window, Late Winter, News Inside and The Headless Angel and published poems in many journals. He was a frequent author at Radford University's Highland Summer Conference (1990, 1992,1996, 2001, 2006, 2007).
