Biographical/Historical Note

Arthur Giesen was born in Radford, Virginia in 1932 (1932-2021). Both his grandfather and father were Mayors of Radford, his mother was part of the Radford City Council and was later elected to the Virginia House of Delegates. Arthur Giesen was also elected to the Virginia House of Delegates in 1963 and served roughly until 1996. Mr. Giesen received a BA degree from Yale University, and an MBA from Harvard. He taught for a period of time in the early 2000's at James Madison University.

Scope and Contents

This collection consists of a project done by Mr. Giesen in the Spring of 1954. The project consists of photographs, descriptions of houses and buildings with the intent to establish a relationship between the history of Radford, Virginia, and it's architecture. This project has been digitized and can be found:
