Visit the McConnell Library Reading Room to view a new work of art, Community of Soles.
Community of Soles is a sculptural mural project created by the students of Radford University’s SCI course Painting for Public Spaces. Focusing on community engagement, the project was assembled using shoes donated by the diverse people who live and work in the New River Valley. Constructed from two circles and ranging in a full spectrum of colors, Community of Soles showcases how we all come from different walks of life.
Dr. Halide Salam, professor for the class, and students Kelli Billips, Erika Cuevas, Hallie Hawkins, Hannah Milam, Whitley Rogers, Rebekeh Van Sant, and Julie Hawkins are recognized for their conceptualization and execution of this sculpture project.
